Jim Goodwin admits Collin Quaner’s incredible miss was the turning point in their Scottish Cup semi-final exit.
The Buddies created plenty of chances throughout their clash with St Johnstone yesterday, not least Quaner’s gilt-edged opportunity to open the scoring in the second half.
The former Huddersfield Town striker fired wide, with the Perthshire Saints going on to score twice shortly after and eventually running out 2-1 winners.
When asked about the crucial chance, Goodwin said: “I think it was the turning point.
“Collin will be disappointed with that one. He’s just not got enough on it.
“We were hoping for more from him because that’s why we brought the big guy on, we know the quality he has.
“You look at the level he’s played at, the English Premier League and the Bundesliga. You’re hoping he repays something for the amount of time he’s been missing.
“He’s tried so hard to get himself fit, it’s been a real shame for him.
“That would have been brilliant if he had come up with a winner today to get us into a cup final.
“The header he had as well, I think he’d want that one back too.”
