Jim Gavin calls rule change experiments 'disrespectful' to National Football League

Dublin manager Jim Gavin has accused the GAA of being disrespectful to the National Football League by trailing new rules in it this year.

Four new rules were adopted for play this spring that won;t be carried forward to the provincial and All-Ireland championships, including the offensive mark and tweaks to the kickout and sideline ball proceedure.

“You don't see experimental rules in the qualifiers for the European Championship games next summer," Gavin told the Herald.

“You didn't see them in the Six Nations or the Autumn Series getting ready for the (rugby) World Cup. So I don't see why the GAA should use its second competition to experiment with rules.

“If you want to make a rule change, fine. Get on with it then. Don't be disrespectful to players.

“Don't be disrespectful to supporters and in some way sponsors as well, by using the secondary competition to experiment.”

Paddy Christie, part two: 'The turnaround was all hard work - it's unfair to just say Dublin has all this money'
