Jim Furyk wants Tiger Woods involved in 2027 Ryder Cup

  • Jim Furyk, the newly appointed US Ryder Cup captain, has expressed his desire for golf icon Tiger Woods to join his team's set-up for the 2027 contest at Adare Manor in Ireland.
  • Woods is reportedly currently undergoing treatment in Switzerland following a car crash in March, which led to him being charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and police finding prescription opioid hydrocodone pills in his possession.
  • Furyk stated he has not yet contacted Woods out of respect for his recovery but plans to reach out in the future to discuss a potential role, acknowledging Woods' “road to health”.
  • The US captain praised Woods' previous contributions as a vice-captain, noting his significant impact on the team room through his knowledge and experience.
  • The prospect of Woods' involvement excites Furyk, who is aiming to help the US team reclaim the Ryder Cup after Europe won the last two editions and will have home advantage in Ireland.
