Jim Davidson locked in race row amid claims he was 'racially abusive' to attendant

Jim Davidson ignited a controversial race row.

The 2014 Celebrity Big Brother winner, 65, has spoken out to confess he did sarcastically tell a train attendant: "Welcome to our country".

A "racially abusive" complaint was lodged by a passenger in the train carriage who claimed the abuse was aimed at a black attendant.

The comic has denied claims he was racist and that the person was black.

However, the TV personality admitted he swore at the train attendant during his foul-mouthed tirade.

The comedian insisted the train attendant was a white man with a thick South African accent.

Jim said: “I did tell him to ‘f*** off,’ and I did say: ‘Welcome to our country,’ in a sarcastic manner because I couldn’t help myself.

“The attendant acted in a threatening manner and attempted to stop me boarding because I could not find my older person’s rail pass. I did push past and got on the train and I showed him my pass.

"I was on my way to another charity event so did not want to miss my train. He was a white man with a thick South African accent.”

Jim responded to the claims made by fellow passenger Paul Blanchard.

The public relations guru, 44, told The Sun : “The man was black. Jim made a couple of phone calls moaning about him and repeatedly used the same kind of dismissive and abusive language.”

British Transport Police received a "report of racial abuse" on Virgin Trains service to Milton Keynes Central on Friday.

The Mirror reached out to Jim Davidson's representative for further comment.
