Jim Carrey refuses to take selfies and his reasons may put you off them too

Having selfies taken with fans may seem like just part of the day job for celebs, but not all them are on board with it.

Jim Carrey for example refuses to have any taken with his loyal fans, and he cites some pretty good reasons - which may even change the mind of the most die-hard selfie fan. Maybe.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter , the 57-year-old Ace Ventura star revealed he wasn't a fan of stopping to have his photo taken, particularly if it was selfie.

He explained: "I dropped the whole trying to be something for somebody a long time ago. I don’t feel there is a pressing responsibility to please everyone.

"I'm not unkind to people, but I would much prefer saying hello and who are you and what are you doing today to giving a selfie."

So what's his beef with selfies?

It's "Because selfies stop life."

Warming to his theme, Carrey continued: "You go [contorts his face], 'Eeehh'. And then it’s going on Instagram to give people a false sense of relevance.

"Everybody was so gaga about Steve Jobs, but I picture him in hell running from demons who want a selfie."

Carrey's stance had echoes of Keanu Reeves , who was recently revealed to not be keen on hugging or touching fans in photos.
