Jim Carrey as Dr Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog gets hilarious fan reaction

We finally have our first look at live-action Dr Robotnik.

The classic villain from the Sonic the Hedgehog video games will appear in the upcoming live-action movie adaptation and will be played by none other than funny-man Jim Carrey.

The first photo of Carrey in the role has been revealed as he will feature in an upcoming trailer for the film.

Sonic the Hedgehog will star Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, James Marsden as Sheriff Tom Wachowski, Adam Pally, Tika Sumpter, and Neal McDonough.

The film will focus on Marsden's character as he journeys to assist Sonic in his battle against Dr Ivo Robotnik.

Sonic is an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog who can run at incredible speed, in case you didn't know!

The image of Carrey as Robotnik has actually gone down to have a mixed reaction from fans.

One compared him to Soviet dictator Josef Stalin, naturally.

Another thought he looked like Pringles Man.

Or a famous face for some Italian cuisine.

Others just wanted him more like the video game version.

But some are just plain excited to see Carrey in the role of the iconic video game character.

Finally, others are just surprised that the film with Carrey in it is happening at all.

Well, we are sure his performance as the character will create much discussion!

Sonic the Hedgehog is released in UK cinemas on December 26, 2019.
