A man who threatened to mutilate his ex-partner's private parts then sent sex videos of her to her friend has been jailed for 12 months.
Robert Collyer repeatedly made sickening threats about cutting the woman if she ignored him in a series of calls and messages, and in one of which he said he was going to kill her, Chronicle Live reports.
He also told the woman he would send indecent images of her to her to her friends and family, Newcastle Crown Court heard.
Collyer then carried out the threat, Jolyon Perks, prosecuting, said.
He told the court: "She got a Facebook message from her friend saying he had sent her a video and she sent a screenshot of it to her.
"It was a sexual video of the complainant.
"He had followed through with his threat and had sent a video of her to her friend."
The court heard Collyer then sent another video to the same friend.
Mr Perks said: "The witness called the complainant later that day and told her a further video had been sent to her via Facebook messenger.
"It was a sexual video of the complainant and defendant, sent to her by the defendant."
He added: "It was conduct intended to maximise distress and humiliation."
Collyer then made threats to send more sex videos to other people if she continued to refuse to speak to him.
He also told the victim's friend: "I will kill her before I let her get away with this. I don't care about the future any more. The next time you see your friend she will be in a hospital bed."
Collyer, 22, of Newbolt Court, Felling, Gateshead, pleaded guilty to harassment and disclosing a private sexual image without consent and was jailed for 12 months and given a restraining order.
Tony Cornberg, defending, said Collyer was "highly intelligent" and boasted some good references.
He said he'd had a difficult life but had found work at a pub in Jarrow until covid struck.
Mr Cornberg added that Collyer had gravitated to the wrong kind of people but has stayed off drugs in prison and wants to avoid a relapse when he is released."
Collyer, who had been polite during the case, returned on camera on the video-link from prison to complain that he had been jailed, saying he needed help rather than being locked up.
