Jilted bride Quinn Duane gives wedding feast to homeless people

A Californian bride shared her wedding feast with dozens of homeless people after being dumped by her fiance just days before the ceremony.

Quinn Duane, 27, was set to marry Landon Borup in a $35,000 ceremony in Sacremento at the weekend, only for the potential groom to get cold feet and call off the ceremony with less than a week to go, according to the bride’s mother.

Choosing to use the situation as a chance to do something positive, Quinn’s family invited the city’s homeless to enjoy the would-be wedding reception instead.

"When I found out on Monday that the wedding would not be taking place, it just seemed like, of course, this would be something that we would do to give back," the bride's mother, Kari Duane, told KCRA News.

Close to 90 homeless men, women and children turned up to the dinner, enjoying a feast in Sacremento’s Citizen Star Hotel.

Rashad Abdullah, who attended the meal with his wife Erika Craycraft and five children, described the meal as 'a blessing.'

'When you're going through a hard time and a struggle, for you to get out to do something different with your family, it was really a blessing,' he told KCRA.

His wife Erika also thanked the Duane family for their kindness.

'To lose out on something so important to yourself and then give it to someone else is really giving, really kind,' she said.
