Jilly Cooper’s literary agent to ‘piece together’ her final draft

  • Jilly Cooper's literary agent and Rivals executive producer, Felicity Blunt, has revealed that a posthumous publication by the author could soon be released, following her efforts to piece together Cooper's final draft.
  • The author, best known for her steamy fiction focusing on scandal and adultery in upper-class society, died aged 88 in October last year from a fatal head injury sustained during a fall at her Gloucestershire home.
  • Blunt highlighted Cooper's unwavering dedication to her work, noting that she continued to work late into the night, reviewing scripts and writing a short story, right up until the day she passed away.
  • Showrunner Dominic Treadwell-Collins and producer Alex Lamb expressed profound sadness at Cooper's death, honouring her as one of the world's greatest storytellers and cherishing their collaborative experience adapting her novels for television.
  • The second season of Rivals, which Cooper was actively involved with until her death, has garnered critical acclaim, with reviewers praising it as “well-written, well-acted and enormously fun”.
