Jill Stein raises $2 million for presidential election recounts

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein has raised $2 million for recounting votes in in three Rust Belt states won by Donald Trump.

Stein's campaign quickly reached her the $2 million goal and has increased the target to $4 million to pursue the recounts, NBC reported.

A group of prominent computer scientists and election lawyers this week questioned whether the results in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin were manipulated or hacked. The deadlines to file for recounts are Friday in Wisconsin, Monday in Michigan and Wednesday in Pennsylvania.

"After a divisive and painful presidential race, reported hacks into voter and party databases and individual email accounts are causing many Americans to wonder if our election results are reliable. These concerns need to be investigated before the 2016 presidential election is certified. We deserve elections we can trust," Stein stated on her website.

Officials of Hillary Clinton's campaign officials were concerned that the issue would disrupt the transfer of power or causing further unrest over Trump's win, NBC reported.
