Jill Scott says her fiancée was worried about break-up, moments before engagement

Jill Scott has spoken about how she was 'acting so weird' while trying to hide an engagement ring from fiancée Shelly Unitt, that her partner was convinced the two were about to go through a messy breakup - rather than spend the rest of their lives together.

Sunderland-born Jill, who was this year crowned as the coveted Queen of the Jungle in I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! was terrified that she may lose the ring, insisting on taking it everywhere with her in a sports holdall.

But her constant worry about losing or misplacing the ring, as well as her anxious actions led Shelly to believe that she was about to be finished.

The Mirror reports that Jill popped the big question in March 2020, slipping a diamond ring into a glass of bubbly during a trip to Huddersfield's Titanic Spa. She revealed: "I was so scared of losing it, Shelly became convinced I was going to break up with her, because I was acting so weird."

37-year-old Shelly, added: "Everywhere she went in the house, the rucksack went with her and if we were going out, she'd spend ages trying to work out where to put it."

She told HELLO!: "I honestly had no idea. I just thought she was leaving me!"

Jill made an abundance of new friends during her IAC 2022 stint, revealing that she is even planning to invite former campmates to the wedding next year. The ex-SAFC Women and Manchester City star became Queen of the Jungle just last month, pipping Hollyoaks' Owen Warner to the crown during the prestigious finale.

Former Health Secretary Matt Hancock respectively finished third in the Australian rainforest. Speaking on BBC's the One Show, Jill was probed about her wedding plans, as well as whether the other stars will be getting an invite to her big day or not.

She quickly confirmed: "There will definitely be some extra seats at that dinner table, I think. I'll have to invite the campmates, won't I? I'll have to."

One person who is unlikely to get an invite is former West Suffolk MP Matt Hancock after Jill revealed on Loose Women last week that she hasn't 'had a message off him' since returning to the UK. During her appearance on the ITV daytime show, panellist Janet Street-Porter grilled Jill about her relationship with the former Health Secretary and her opinion of him taking part in the show.

She replied: "I haven’t had a message off him yet."
