Jill Scott reminds ITV I'm A Celeb's viewers of previous contestant with cockroach run-in

Jill Scott reminded ITV I'm A Celebrity viewers of a previous contestant as she calmly responded to having a cockroach stuck in her ear.

The Lioness was taking part in the Scareground and tombola challenge on Thursday night's show (November 17) when she realised one of the creatures had made a home for itself in her ear. Jill decided to go in the Unlucky Dip, while Mike Hancock took part in the Critter Carousel leaving Owen Warner in the Fiendish Ferris Wheel.

Dec explained to the campmates: “Three of you have to take part in this trial to try and win some more coloured balls. At the end of the trial all of the balls won will be added to our lovely Tombola over here.

"Ant and I will then draw three of the coloured balls at random and those three people will be whisked away by chopper to the beach for a sumptuous surf and turf barbie. How does that sound?”

Before the task, Jill confessed: “I don’t know why I’ve just volunteered for that.” She said: “It’s alright, 10 minutes of hell.” Mike got covered in green ants, while Owen was repeatedly dunked in a tank of yabbies, eels and mudcrabs as he attempted to throw the balls his campmates got to him in the pot. If it landed in it, it earned that celeb another ball in the Tombola.

Seann kept calling out for Jill to choose blue balls for him. Boy George complained no black balls, representing him, were being thrown. When the trial ended, Jill said: “I’ve just got a cockroach stuck in my ear.”

Fatima Whitbread got a cockroach stuck up her nose on I'm A Celeb in 2011 (ITV)

As the medic got it out with a syringe, Jill said: “Come to the jungle they said, it would be fun…” Ant said: “Jill, that was bigger than the one Fatima Whitbread had up her nose!” as Jill responded: “I can hear now! Right, how did we do?”

Jill's calm response earned praise from fans - and the incident reminded people of previous I'm a Celeb contestant Fatima Whitbread, who had a cockroach syringed out of her nose on the show 11 years ago.

Taking to Twitter, @MilenaZP_ said: "#ImACeleb Jill is just as calm as Fatima Whitbread. Champion!" as @Haifischfrau echoed: "A cockroach in Jill's ear but she is still calm and collected. Respect for a queen. #ImACeleb".

@abigailsarah96 added: "Jill doing a Fatima with the cockroach," with two laughing-face emojis as @pearlsandlace_ said: "Jill, never makes a fuss...even with a cockroach in her ear! #ImACeleb".

Jill then went on to become the first person drawn from the tombola to be sent for a brief getaway on the beach for a hearty surf and turf. Matt Hancock and Sue Cleaver were the other two celebrities to win the meal.

And viewers reckoned Jill deserved the treat after her cockroach ordeal. @officerjanfan said: "Gotta love Jill. There's a cockroach in my ear. But still smashed it. Totally deserves the bbq #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity" while @scottslionesses added: "jill’s ball getting pulled out to go to the beach is perfect since she had a cockroach in her ear !! #imaceleb".

@CSRizzoli23 tweeted: "So glad Jill has got a place at the bbq she deserved it after having a cockroach in her ear #ImACeleb" and @KeiraBird8 said: "Jill fully deserved the trip to the beach, cannot contain my happiness for her. #ImACeleb".
