Jill Dando's cousin reveals heartbreaking final conversation before her death

Jill Dando's cousin has revealed the heartbreaking final conversation they had before her tragic death.

The much-loved BBC presenter was shot dead on her doorstep in Fulham by a mystery assassin in April 1999.

She was murdered on the same day that her cousin Judith had travelled back to the UK from her home in France.

Jill was engaged to Dr Alan Farthing and they were due to marry in September 1999 - with Judith as a bridesmaid.

Speaking on today's This Morning, Judith explained that she had spoke to Jill about her upcoming wedding just 10 days before she was killed.

She said: "I was living in France at the tine. We were talking about the fact she was going to be getting married later in the year.

"I was going to be one of her bridesmaids. We were planning ahead. she rang up and spoke about her dress fitting.

"We were talking about me coming back and arranging her wedding. There was lots to be done and she was very busy.

"That was probably about ten days before I came back from France and that coincided sadly with the day Jill was killed."

Judith and Jill were born 18 months apart and were more like sisters than cousins.

Despite ther celebrity status, Judith said her cousin was "normal" and never let the fame change her.

"She was normal. The girl next door. She grew up in the West Country, then came up to the big wide world of London, but didn’t change.

"Always fun, loving, kind, generous. All her friends and colleagues would say the same thing."

Jill's case remains open and her killer has never been uncovered.

However, Judith believes finding her murder won't change anything and will only lead to more questions.

She said: "I think everything changed on the day Jill was killed. Getting a conviction won’t bring Jill back.

"In the grand scheme of things, we'd like to know why, but it won’t really change anything. So it's not the most important thing for us."

Judith is running the London Marathon in memory of Jill and to raise a target of £10,000 for the British heart Foundation.

She added: "For me what's really important is I and her friends and everyone left behind leads their best life as we're lucky. It's important we make the most of our lives.

"Running the marathon is me running my life to the full and doing it for her - taking her with me."
