A Jewish man visiting London from Israel was attacked by a group of about five men in north London, as police are investigating the incident as an antisemitic hate crime.
Metropolitan Police were called to an address in The Grove, Golders Green, at around 2am on Monday following reports of an assault.
A 22-year-old man was rushed to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged. He suffered injuries to his face, neck and back.
Met Police is treating the attack as an antisemitic hate crime. No arrests have yet been made.
Speaking to the BBC, the victim said: "They kicked me like an animal and didn't stop. They were shouting 'Are you Jewish'? I was thinking they could kill me."
The assault follows a series of attacks on the Jewish community in London and follows last month’s stabbings in Golders Green.
It is alleged the victim was speaking on the phone with friends when a group of five men swore at him and attacked him.
The victim, who had his trousers ripped and was left with only one shoe following the assault, claims he was targeted because he was speaking Hebrew and was Jewish.
A Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) spokesperson said: “We cannot wait any longer for real intervention against this horrific wave of violence against Britain’s Jews. We are in dire need of urgent action.”
Inquiries are ongoing and Met Police are appealing to any witnesses to come forward with information.
