Jewellery clue as police try to identify woman whose body was found in River Trent

Police working to identify the body of a woman found in the River Trent have released photos of jewellery she was wearing.

Police were called to Lady Bay Bridge just before 3.30pm on Wednesday, May 8.

Officers said they weren't treating the death as suspicious.

However, the woman's identity is not yet known. And police have released images of her jewellery in the hope someone recognises it.

She is described as black, with a short dark afro hairstyle, between 40 and 60, about 5ft 2ins tall and of stocky build.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: "She was wearing a number of items of jewellery (pictured) - three bangles on her right wrist (two wooden and one gold coloured), ear rings in both ears and two rings, one on each hand.

"She was wearing brown boots, black trousers, a red and black horizontally striped jumper and a black coat."

Anyone with information which may help the police investigation is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 454 of May 8.
