Jewellers, butchers and cafe in Bridgend breached Covid rules as staff caught without masks

Authorities have warned another three businesses in Bridgend they could be closed for breaching coronavirus guidelines.

Officers from the Shared Regulatory Service (SRS) found staff at a jewellers, cafe and butchers in Bridgend were working in close proximity without wearing face masks.

During visits on Monday December 14, officials served improvement notices to Sandra's Jewellers and Power Meals in Bridgend Indoor Market and T & H Family Butchers, Dunraven Place, Bridgend for failing to follow Welsh Government regulations.

They have given the businesses 48 hours to comply with the rules. Failure to comply can result in closure, a fixed penalty notice or being taken to court.

The SRS, a partnership between South Wales Police and Bridgend, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan councils, carries out checks on licensed premises to ensure they comply with government guidelines.

SRS officers have issued 23 improvement notices to businesses in Bridgend County Borough and temporarily closed three for breaching Welsh Government coronavirus rules.
