Jets WR Quincy Enunwa out for the season with another neck injury

The Jets took another blow on Wednesday morning, as the New York Post’s Brian Costello reported that WR Quincy Enunwa will miss the remainder the season with a neck injury.

Enunwa suffered the injury in the Jets’ 17-16 loss to the Bills on Sunday. He re-entered the game after his initial exit. This is the second serious neck injury Enunwa has suffered in his career. He missed the entire 2017 season after injuring his neck in training camp.

The Jets wide receiver was a non-factor on offense Sunday. He had just one catch for -4 yards on three targets.

The Post reported that Enunwa underwent tests on Monday to determine the seriousness of the injury. With Enunwa’s season over, the Jets went out and acquired Demaryius Thomas from the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round pick.

Enunwa signed a four-year, $36 million contract extension back in December while Mike Maccagnan was still the general manager. Enunwa has dealt with an extensive injury list throughout his career; now it is unknown whether he will be able to continue playing after this latest setback. Adam Gase declined to say Wednesday whether or not the injury was career-threatening.

In other injury news news, C.J. Mosley (groin), Quinnen Williams (ankle), Jamal Adams (sore hip/back) and Sam Darnold (strep throat) will not practice Wednesday. However, Gase is hopeful that each will be available Week 2.
