Jets WR Jamison Crowder to serve as honorary captain for Duke

Jets wide receiver Jamison Crowder is making a return to his alma mater, Duke University.

According to Charlie Potter, Crowder will serve as an honorary captain for Duke when they face off with Alabama on Saturday. Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley will be Alabama’s captain. The two will meet at midfield for a pregame coin toss.

Crowder was at Duke from 2011-2014 and was quite impressive. In four seasons at Duke, Crowder had 283 receptions for 3,641 yards and 23 touchdowns. He was also first-team All-ACC in 2013 and 2014.

The 26-year-old receiver just joined the Jets this season after spending the first four years of his career with Washington. When healthy, Crowder is one of the league’s best slot receivers with his speed and ability to catch the football.

The Jets have high hopes for Crowder, as the chemistry he’s had with quarterback Sam Darnold has been strong all training camp and preseason. But with the regular season on the horizon, Crowder has to show he can carry his play into Week 1 against Buffalo.
