The good feelings the Jets had after securing their first winning streak in more than a year took a big hit.
Wide receiver Quincy Enunwa suffered a high ankle sprain and safety Marcus Maye broke his thumb in Sunday's win over the Colts, an NFL source confirmed.
It's unclear how much time either will miss, but it could be multiple weeks. Several reports indicated Enunwa might be sidelined up to a month.
Enunwa limped off in the second quarter. Maye left in the third and was seen in the locker room with a cast on his hand.
More details could emerge Wednesday when the Jets return to practice, and Todd Bowles can comment on his players. Bowles held a conference call with reporters Monday, but he said he hadn't seen the results of either player's tests at that time.
Enunwa is the Jets' leading receiver, hauling in 22 catches for 287 yards and a touchdown. But Sam Darnold has been building chemistry with Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse and Terrelle Pryor the last couple of weeks.
Enunwa was injured on a catch-and-run that resulted in a fumble Sunday. He missed all of last season after neck surgery.
Maye's injury is another loss to the Jets already depleted secondary.
The Jets played without starting cornerback Trumaine Johnson (quad) and corner Buster Skrine (concussion) on Sunday. Coach Todd Bowles said he didn't know whether Johnson or Skrine would be able to return for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
"The younger guys are going to have to step up and play," Bowles said. "We've got guys who have been practicing and they understand what to do when they go out and get a chance to prove themselves."
Maye missed the first three games of the season with an ankle/foot issue. The second-year safety totaled 19 tackles, half a sack and one interception in three games.
In the Oct. 7 win over Denver, Maye had a 104-yard interception return before being tackled at the 1-yard line. It was the longest return that didn't result in a touchdown in NFL history.
With Maye out, the Jets likely will turn to Doug Middleton and Terrence Brooks. Middleton started for Maye earlier in the season. But Brooks replaced Maye in Sunday's game. Bowles said he went with Brooks because Middleton was banged up in practice, and Brooks got more reps.
