Jets waive three players, including CB Rashard Robinson

The Rashard Robinson experiment is officially over.

On Friday, the Jets waived Robinson along with wide receiver Stacy Coley and defensive lineman Charles Tapper to make room for 16 undrafted free agent signings.

In October 2017, the Jets traded a 2018 fifth-round draft pick for Robinson. At the time, New York desperately needed cornerback depth with Buster Skrine, Morris Claiborne and Xavier Coleman all sidelined with injuries. Instead of providing an instant impact, Robinson struggled to learn the defense and did not make much of an impact in his first season with the Jets

Things didn’t get much better in 2018, as Robinson was suspended for the first four games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. In his tenure with the Jets, Robinson appeared in 16 games was credited with only 10 tackles.

Coley originally signed a reserve/futures contract with the Jets in January. He appeared in seven games with the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants from 2017-18. However, he did not record a reception with either team.

A fourth-round pick of the Cowboys in 2016, Tapper appeared in just two games for the team that drafted him. Like Coley, Tapper signed a reserve/futures deal in January.
