NEW YORK _ Cornerback Trumaine Johnson (ankles) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, effectively ending his Jets career.
Gang Green will cut Johnson in March before his $11 million salary becomes fully guaranteed.
Johnson was a disappointment after the Jets signed him to a blockbuster 5-year, $72.5 million after the 2017 season.
The News reported earlier this season that the Jets didn't think that the veteran truly loved football. Johnson respectfully disagreed.
Johnson, who made $34 million with the Jets, had one interception in six games this season.
General manager Joe Douglas will be looking to bolster his cornerback room in the offseason.
