Jets tried to trade for Colts’ pick at No. 34

As the trades were flying throughout the 2019 NFL Draft, the New York Jets had the desire to take back what was originally theirs from the Indianapolis Colts in the second round.

The Colts held the No. 34 overall pick in last weekend’s draft, a selection they originally acquired from the Jets in the massive trade a month before the 2018 draft. As the second day of the big event was set to begin, it seems the Jets tried to reacquire the pick from the Colts, per Manish Mehta of The Daily News.

The Jets were looking to take a cornerback at No. 34, which is exactly what the Colts wound up doing. With that selection, they drafted former Temple cornerback Rock Ya-Sin.

Leading up to the second day of the draft, there were reports and even expectations that the Colts would trade out of the spot. That came shortly after Indy traded out of the No. 26 pick with the Washington Redskins.

The Colts wound up keeping the No. 34 pick for themselves in order to add a potential starter in the secondary, and it’s likely the Jets weren’t the only ones looking to move up.
