Jets trade CB Parry Nickerson to Seahawks for 2021 7th-round pick

General manager Joe Douglas has shipped away another Mike Maccagnan draft pick. This time it was via trade.

The Jets traded cornerback Parry Nickerson to the Seahawks for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2021. He was either getting cut or traded and Douglas found a taker in Seattle.

Nickerson was a sixth-round draft choice by the Jets in 2018 out of Tulane. In his first and only season with Gang Green, Nickerson struggled to adjust to the NFL game. He was consistently beat in the slot and rarely made any plays. Nickerson finished last season with 21 combined tackles and one pass defense.

Nickerson is the first departure from Maccagnan’s 2018 draft class, which is probably one of the strongest drafts he had. Both Sam Darnold and Chris Herndon are locks on this team, while Trenton Cannon is moving along well in his development. The only two question marks are Folorunso Fatukasi and Nathan Shepherd.

This just shows that Douglas wants to bring in his own guys and has no commitment to selected by Maccagnan. Expect Douglas to be very busy on the waiver wire in terms of cornerbacks in order to replace Nickerson.
