Jets to sign former Packers K Sam Ficken

Sam Ficken was unable to beat out Mason Crosby for the kicking job with the Green Bay Packers, but he’s about to get another chance.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the New York Jets are expecting to sign Ficken, who was released by the Packers at final cutdowns on Aug. 31.

Ficken made 3-of-6 field goals over two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. He was claimed by the Packers off of waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on April 15.

Ficken made his only field goal attempt during the preseason, a 41-yard attempt, and all five extra points.

The Jets are looking for a kicker to potentially replace Kaare Vedvik, the former Vikings kicker who missed a field goal and an extra point in the Jets’ Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
