Jets select Texas A&M P Braden Mann with 191st pick in 2020 NFL Draft

After spending the first five rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft addressing offensive and defensive needs, Jets general manager Joe Douglas turned his attention to special teams in the sixth round, selecting Texas A&M punter Braden Mann with the 191st pick.

A second-team AP All-American last season, Mann was one of the best punters in the country. In 2018, he won the Ray Guy Award for the best punter in college football. In four years at Texas A&M, Mann averaged 48.9 yards on his punts.

Punter was an area of need for the Jets entering the draft, as Ian Berryman was the only one on the roster. Mann will push Berryman for the starting job in training camp and has a good shot at winning the competition considering New York invested a draft pick in him.

With a new punter now in the fold, Douglas could use Gang Green’s final pick to target a need such as edge rusher or interior offensive line.
