Jets safety Jamal Adams wins appeal for hit on Browns QB Baker Mayfield

Jamal Adams knows where his bread is buttered. That’s why, following news of a successful appeal on a roughing the passer penalty, Adams will be using that fine-money to fund a birthday present for his mother.

In a Week 2 loss to the Browns, the Jets’ safety was flagged for an unnecessary hit to Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield. The hit would later wind up costing Adams $21,056. Unhappy with the verdict, the third-year veteran took to the appeal process.

After weeks of waiting for a decision, appeals officer Derrick Brooks sided with Adams. The fine was rescinded, and Adams wasn’t shy in letting the media know what his intentions were moving forward.
