Jets S Marcus Maye expected to be full participant in training camp

With all the buzz centered around the Jets’ search for a new general manager, head coach and interim GM Adam Gase has other worries on his mind amidst OTAs. Of them, third-year safety Marcus Maye has yet to participate in team drills.

Gase addressed the media on Wednesday, saying that Maye is being held back as a precaution, per Brian Costello. Maye is expected to be a full participant in training camp when the pads come on, however.

For now, Maye has been limited to 7-on-7 drills as he works his way back from shoulder surgery that abruptly ended his sophomore season. Drafted in the same class as fellow safety Jamal Adams, the Jets have been patiently waiting for the reunion of the young, star safety tandem.

The two could be seen working out together on Wednesday.

For now, Maye is taking it easy, as he should be. Everything seems to be progressing to the Jets’ liking, however. The expectation is he’ll be good to go when the pads come on, which is great new for Gang Green.
