Jets rookie Quinnen Williams changes his number

Quinnen Williams had to make a little change to his uniform number.

Williams wore No. 92 at the University of Alabama, but with the Jets, that number is occupied by Leonard Williams. With that the case, Williams has decided to go with No. 95, the team announced on Thursday.

Williams was the third overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. The 303-pound defensive lineman was a force for the Crimson Tide. In two seasons, Williams had 91 total tackles with 26 of them for a loss to go along with 10 sacks.

According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, former Jets great Marty Lyons said he would be “honored” if Quinnen Williams picked his number. Williams, however, opted for a number all his own.

Last season, No. 95 was occupied by Josh Martin, who is now a free agent, so Williams got his second choice with his number.
