It was a good afternoon for Kyron Brown until all of a sudden, the injury bug bit him at the worst possible time.
Brown turned in an admirable performance in his first career start against the Dolphins, but succumbed to a quad injury that landed him on season-ending injured reserve on Monday.
How did Gang Green’s other rookies fare against Miami? Let’s take a look in the latest edition of Jets Wire’s rookie power rankings.
No. 5: TE Trevon Wesco

Last Week: No. 4
Wesco didn’t appear in the box score against the Dolphins in Week 14.
The West Virginia product’s role is pretty much set in stone at this point in the season. With Ryan Griffin and even Daniel Brown contributing in the passing game, don’t expect to see much of Wesco for the remainder of 2019.
No. 4: DE Kyle Phillips

Last Week: No. 3
Phillips’ downward trajectory continued against the Dolphins, as he did not appear in the box score in Week 14.
With Foley Fatukasi and now Nathan Shepherd coming on strong on the defensive line, Phillips’ chances to make a play come few and far between. He has the talent to make an impact, but the opportunity for him to do so is simply not there right now.
No. 3: DT Quinnen Williams

Last Week: No. 1
Williams had another relatively quiet afternoon against the Dolphins, recording only one tackle.
To make matters worse, the Alabama product left the game with a stinger and did not return. His status for New York’s Thursday night matchup with the Ravens in Week 15 is currently up in the air.
No. 2: CB Kyron Brown

Last Week: Not Ranked
Brown played well against the Dolphins in the first half, recording five tackles and contributing to a Jets secondary that stymied Miami’s passing attack relatively well.
Unfortunately, the second half was not as friendly to the undrafted free agent out of Akron. Brown sustained a season-ending quad injury, making him a one-and-done in the rankings.
Brown showed some promise when given the chance in 2019. He’ll have a chance to get back on the field beginning in the spring.
No. 1: CB Bless Austin

Last Week: No. 2
Austin returns to the top spot of the rankings following a relatively solid performance against the Dolphins.
Other than allowing a lengthy completion to Devante Parker early in the game, Austin held his own against Miami throughout the afternoon. It wasn’t his best performance, but it certainly wasn’t his worst.
Austin’s job got worlds easier once Parker departed with a concussion, but that shouldn’t take anything away from his overall showing against the Dolphins.
