Jets’ Robby Anderson claims that Stephon Gilmore ‘holds a lot’

The New York Jets aren’t in the position to give bulletin-board material to the New England Patriots — but that’s exactly what they did.

After beginning 2-0 and dominating their first two games, the Patriots have been trending upward as the Jets spiral down with an 0-2 record. Everything seems to be in Tom Brady’s favor as his offense is pouring in points and his defense has been as stingy as they’ve ever been — allowing only three points so far this season.

Le’Veon Bell is the only bright spot for the Jets right now after losing numerous starters to illness and injuries. Jamison Crowder and Anderson are the leading receivers this season — and Anderson will likely see a decent amount of Stephon Gilmore in their Week 3 matchup on Sunday.

Gilmore has been arguably the NFL’s best cornerback and Anderson believes that it’s partly due to some unseen penalties.

“He’s one of the best,” Anderson said, per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “Holds a lot, you know. Gets away with a lot, you know. So I’ve got to come with my A-game, know what I’m saying?”

In the past four matchups with New England, Anderson has been targeted 28 times and only brought in ten catches for 124 yards and no touchdowns. He only had five catches for 48 yards in two matchups last season — so Gilmore has won the battles while lining up against Anderson.

Although he covered his comment up with some compliments — he gave a little more fuel for Gilmore in Sunday’s matchup.
