Jets rework Jordan Whitehead’s contract, create $5 million in cap space

The Jets have themselves a little more breathing room with the salary cap by reworking the contract of safety Jordan Whitehead, per Jason Fitzgerald of Over the Cap.

The move saves the Jets about $5 million in salary cap space. The Jets added void years to help spread out the cap hit this year and also guaranteed his salary this season.

Whitehead started all 17 games in his first season with the Jets in 2022 after four seasons with the Buccaneers. He recorded 89 tackles and two interceptions. He’s expected to start alongside Chuck Clark this season.
