Jets release RB De’Angelo Henderson

The Jets have begun trimming down the number of running backs on their roster.

The team announced Tuesday that it is releasing running back De’Angelo Henderson. He appeared in three games with the Jets last season and had two rushes for 19 yards and a fumble.

Henderson was originally signed to the practice squad last September and spent most of the season there. He was a sixth-round pick by the Broncos in 2017 out of Coastal Carolina. With the Broncos, Henderson played in five games and had seven rushes for 13 yards to go along with two catches for 36 yards and a touchdown as a receiver.

The Jets are now down to five running backs on the roster: Le’Veon Bell, Ty Montgomery, Elijah McGuire, Bilal Powell and Trenton Cannon. Expect that number to go down again by the time Week 1 rolls around.
