Quinnen Williams will not face criminal charges for trying to board a flight with a gun earlier this year.
The Jets defensive lineman was arrested at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on March 5 after trying to bring a Glock 19 pistol with him on a flight. Williams had a permit for the gun in his home state of Alabama, but not in New York.
The gun was unloaded, but Williams had ammunition on him and therefore could have been charged with carrying a loaded handgun based on New York state law.
Instead, felony charges were dismissed, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini.
“As we said from the outset, this matter has been resolved with no criminal charges,” Williams’ attorney, Alex Spiro, told Cimini. “This case was nothing more than a technical issue with the storing of a firearm, which is why the government gave Mr. Williams nothing more than a ticket.”
Williams, 22, is now in his second season with the Jets. The third overall pick in 2019 has two sacks in four games and 4.5 for his career after enduring an injury-riddled rookie season.
