Jets’ Quinnen Williams, 49ers’ Nick Bosa DROY favorites

It was no surprise that Mike Maccagnan once again took the best player on the board when he used the No. 3 pick on Alabama DT Quinnen Williams. Now, oddsmakers think Gang Green’s newest first-rounder has a chance at some serious hardware.

According to Caesar’s Palace, Williams is tied for the best odds of winning Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2019. Both he and San Franciso DE Nick Bosa, who was drafted one spot ahead of Williams, top the list.

Bosa and Williams are tied at +400 odds. Staying in the division, the Buffalo Bills’ Ed Oliver is not far behind at +550. The top of the list rounds out with Devin Bush (+700), Devin White (+800), Clelin Ferrell (+800) and Josh Allen (+1000).

Many believe the Jets lucked out on a Pro Bowl caliber talent in Williams. There are months of training and preseason football to be played before any rookie can be tied to a single league-honor, but it’s a safe bet that the Jets got a good player in Williams. Now, does that mean he’s a safe gamble for Defensive Rookie of the Year?

We’ll leave that up to the oddsmakers and bettors for now.
