FLORHAM PARK, N.J. _ Jets coach Todd Bowles said quarterback Sam Darnold is day-to-day with a strained right foot and the rookie hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Darnold was in a walking boot and did not participate in practice on Wednesday.
Darnold was injured in Sunday's loss in Miami. He said afterward that he got dinged up, but he was able to finish the game. Darnold did take a beating in what was his worst game of the season. He threw four interceptions in the Jets' 13-6 loss, their third straight.
On a conference call Monday, Darnold said he was feeling OK physically.
"I feel fine," Darnold said. "Some bumps and some bruises but everything is good."
Bowles was asked about Darnold and said he was not aware that he was hurt.
"He has not expressed that to me," Bowles said. "I didn't know he was dinged at the time, but the injury report will be out Wednesday. I'll have a better update."
If Darnold can't play Sunday against the Bills, veteran Josh McCown will start.
