Jets OL Cameron Clark expected to make full recovery

The Jets announced that Cameron Clark is expected to make a full recovery after the offensive lineman sustained a neck injury during Tuesday’s practice.

Clark was diagnosed with a spinal cord contusion, according to the team. He will remain at Morristown Medical Center overnight for further observation.

Clark’s injury forced Robert Saleh to cut practice short on Tuesday as team doctors and medical personnel attended to the second-year pro. The lineman remained motionless for several minutes and had to be taken off the field on a spine board. He was driven to Morristown Medical in an ambulance.

Shortly after, Saleh said that Clark had “some” movement in his extremities at the time, but the coach didn’t want to speculate further on the severity of the injury. Hours later, the team was able to provide an encouraging update.

“It’s never good because football goes away at that moment,” Saleh said. “It’s about the person, his family, his mom and everything in his life. So that’s what takes precedence at that moment. Football kind of goes away. You get empathy in the sense that we all have families. Everything’s going to be good.”

A backup lineman, Clark was drafted by the Jets in the fourth round in 2020. He did not play as a rookie due in part to a shoulder injury.
