The Jets may have a new offensive lineman joining their ranks soon.
New York and Morgan Moses are making progress on a potential multi-year deal, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The Jets are considered the favorites to land the tackle, though nothing is official and other teams are still involved in courting the veteran.
The Jets have had their eyes on Moses ever since a foot injury sidelined starting left tackle Mekhi Becton. Moses – who has played every game for Washington over the past six seasons – would be a fantastic replacement if Becton were to ever miss time. At the very least, he would be an upgrade over right tackle George Fant. The 30-year-old Moses is an adept blocker who finished with an 80.6 overall Pro Football Focus ranking in 2020.
It’s unclear what the Jets have offered Moses, but few teams have as much cap space. New York ranks third in the league with an estimated $27 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap, and that’s without including Jamison Crowder’s undisclosed pay cut. Adding Moses would be a solid fortification to the Jets’ offensive line, no matter if he’s a backup or a starter.
