Jets Lineman Vows Against Playing at Broncos After Second Season Ending Injury in Denver

For the second straight season Jets standout lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker has suffered a season-ending injury—both on the same field. The likelihood of such a scenario becomes even more bizarre when factoring in not only was it not his home field, but it was also was against a non-divisional opponent.

On Saturday, Vera-Tucker shared an emotional message thanking fans for their support on his Instagram page.

“This one hurts to post not gonna lie to y’all. Over the past week I have received lots of support from family, friends, teammates, staff and fans! I can’t thank y’all enough! My season ending early this year is something I would have never thought would happen. I know there is a plan for me, I just have to be patient. It pains me I can’t be on that field with the homies knowing how much work we have all put in as a team and individually. Ima always keep fighting no matter how hard it gets. Thank you for the luv!,” Vera-Tucker posted.

While receiving messages of love, prayers and support from the Jets official team page in addition to teammates Breece Hall, Bryce Huff, Michael Carter II and Mekhi Becton under the post, the 2021 first round pick voiced his frustrations with the unfortunate luck at Empower Field at Mile High in the comments as well.

“Never playing in Denver again.”

Vera-Tucker, who missed the final 10 games last season after suffering a torn triceps tendon in Denver last season, had been grading out as the Jets best offensive lineman since shifting from his normal position of right guard to right tackle in Week 3.
