Jets legend Mark Gastineau finishes colon cancer treatment

New York Jets legend Mark Gastineau tackled another formidable foe Thursday, as he finished his final chemotherapy and radiation treatment session for colon cancer.

The five-time Pro Bowl defensive end revealed his diagnosis in March on Facebook and has since used the platform to keep family members, friends and fans updated on his progress. The 62-year-old also is using the platform to encourage others to get screened regularly to catch cancer sooner.

While Gastineau can celebrate completing the treatments, the former Jet still battles dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease — which he first opened up about two years ago — but he does so with uplifting energy and enthusiasm, as is evidenced on his social media.
