Jets’ Kaufusi bothers help their mayor mom in social distancing video

Social distancing is crucial in stopping the spread of the coronavirus and ensuring the NFL season starts on time. The idea is that everyone should keep at least six feet between each other to curb the human-to-human transmission of the virus.

But six feet is hard to visualize, sometimes, so the mayor of Provo, Utah, Michelle Kaufusi enlisted her NFL sons – Jets defensive linemen Bronson and Corbin Kaufusi – to give her citizens a visual representation of an appropriate social distance. Mayor Kaufusi urged everyone to stay at least a “Kaufusi” away from one another when leaving the house.

As you can see below, the Kaufsui brothers are actually a lot taller than six feet. Bronson is 6-foot-6 and Corbin is 6-foot-9. That extra length, though, helps reinforce the notion of how to keep yourself and others safe during this pandemic.

The Kaufusi family has deep ties to Provo. Michelle was born and raised in the city before becoming mayor in 2017 and her husband, Steve Kaufusi, is a former Philadephia Eagles defensive lineman who went to and coached the Brigham Young football team. Michelle, Bronson, Corbin and their third brother, Devin, all attended BYU as well.

Both Bronson and Corbin played on a crowded Jets’ defensive line and didn’t see much action in 2019. Bronson played in only three games, in which he recorded half a sack and three tackles. Corbin played on the practice squad this past season and signed a  reserve/future contract in December.
