Jets injury report: Sam Darnold returns to practice on limited basis

The Jets have some thanks to give this week.

Sam Darnold (shoulder) will officially be limited at practice on Wednesday. Adam Gase expects Darnold to do “quite a bit,” per ESPN’s Rich Cimini. New York remains cautiously optimistic as it takes a day-to-day approach with its starting quarterback.

Gase added that things appear to be trending in the right direction for Darnold, but wouldn’t go any further than that. Joe Flacco will start his third consecutive game if Darnold can’t go.

As for George Fant, the starting right tackle won’t practice, as he’s dealing with knee and ankle injuries.

In addition to Darnold, Chris Herndon (back), Breshad Perriman (shoulder), Blake Cashman (hamstring) and Chuma Edoga (ankle) will all be limited during Wednesday’s practice.
