Jets injury report: New York being cautious with C.J. Mosley

Several Jets were held of out practice on Wednesday as the team continues to battle the injury bug.

Adam Gase announced Wednesday that DL Quinnen Williams, OLB Jordan Jenkins, ILB C.J. Mosley, WR Demaryius Thomas and QB Sam Darnold would not participate in practice.

With Mosley, the Jets hope to get their All-Pro linebacker running again but don’t want to rush him back because he can tweak the groin injury and be out much longer than anticipated. The Jets will be cautious with Mosley and could hold him out until after the bye week. Neville Hewitt and Blake Cashman did an excellent job filling in at inside linebacker on Monday night.

Williams missed last week with an ankle injury, but the Jets hope the rookie will be able to practice on Thursday.

In other injury news, Jenkins is week-to-week with a calf injury, as is Thomas with a hamstring issue. Gase did not say if they will be able to play on Sunday against the Patriots.

Finally, Gase agreed with his second-year quarterback that it is “realistic” Darnold returns from mono in time for Week 5.
