Jets injury report: Darryl Roberts’ status in doubt after hurting calf

Just when you think it couldn’t get any worse for Jets cornerbacks, another starter is down with an injury.

Adam Gase said Thursday that Darryl Roberts suffered a non-contact calf injury during Wednesday’s practice. He won’t practice Thursday and it doesn’t look like he’ll play in Sunday’s game against the Giants. That leaves the Jets with four healthy cornerbacks in Nate Hairston, Brian Poole, Arthur Maulet and Maurice Canady. The Jets also have to make a decision on rookie Bless Austin, who can be activated off the NFI list.

As for Le’Veon Bell, he will be limited in practice after sitting out on Wednesday with a sore knee. Neville Hewitt will continue to be limited with neck and knee injuries. Things are looking good for Chris Herndon, as Gase said the tight end looked great in practice on Wednesday and could be in line to play on Sunday.
