Jets injury report: C.J. Mosley out 5-6 weeks with groin injury

The Jets took another big blow with their most prized defensive player.

Adam Gase said Wednesday that star linebacker C.J. Mosley will be out 5-6 weeks after re-aggravating his groin in Week 7’s matchup against the Patriots. He saw a specialist and will try a treatment that doesn’t require surgery. That leaves the door open for a potential return late in the season.

In other injury news, Sam Darnold sprained his left thumb but is going to play through it. Ryan Kalil is week-to-week with a knee injury, as is Trenton Cannon with a hamstring injury. Trumaine Johnson has an ankle injury and took himself out of Sunday’s game. The Jets will monitor him throughout the week.

There is no update on Neville Hewitt’s injury, while Chris Herndon looks good to go this week. Kelvin Beachum is going to try to play this week, as he’s dealing with a sprained ankle.
