THE Newcastle Jets didn't just record their first win of the A-League Men's season, they did so in emphatic fashion.
Not one, not two, not even three, but four goals representing a dominant and impressive display against the Wellington Phoenix at McDonald Jones Stadium on Friday night.
The 4-0 victory was highlighted by a slick interchange of passes by the Jets on multiple occasions in and around the 18-yard box.
Beka Mikeltadze netted from close range either side of the break before Dylan Murnane and Daniel Penha put the icing on the cake during the second half.
Olivier Boumal, Valentino Yuel, Penha and Mikeltadze all provided assists.
Mikeltadze scored in the 32nd and 52nd minutes while Murnane, elevated to the starting XI this round, put the ball in the back of the net in the 69th minute and Penha followed suit with 10 minutes remaining.
There were other chances, including a rocket from Penha that hit the crossbar, with the Jets dominating large parts of play, possession and territory.
Newcastle's Angus Thurgate and Wellington's Clayton Lewis both received yellow cards on the brink of half-time. Callan Elliot and David Ball from the Phoenix were each booked during the second half..
The Jets, who had two draws and a loss to their name from the opening three matches, meet Macarthur next at Campbelltown Stadium on December 19.
Newcastle now have five competition points and move, at least temporarily, inside the top six.
