JETS import Wes Hoolahan could miss half the A-League season after undergoing surgery on an ankle injury in Sydney on Monday.
Hoolahan, the 37-year-old Irish international and Norwich City star, was injured in Newcastle's FFA Cup quarter final loss to Adelaide a week ago.
After scans confirmed major ligament and cartilage damage in Hoolahan's right ankle, a specialist opted for surgery.
The Jets said in a statement on Monday night "it is expected that Hoolahan won't feature in the Hyundai A-League until the new year".
