EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. _ The Jets have a win streak.
For the first time in more than a year, the Jets can say they have won two in a row.
The Jets put away the Colts, 42-34, on Sunday at MetLife Stadium on a day when the franchise honored the 50th anniversary of their lone Super Bowl-winning team. The Jets are keeping hope alive that this can be a playoff team.
They evened their record at 3-3 with this victory.
Sam Darnold threw two touchdown passes, the defense forced four turnovers and Jason Myers kicked a team-record seven field goals to spark the victory. They hadn't a win streak since they won three in a row in Weeks 3, 4 and 5 last year.
Darnold finished 24-for-30 for 280 yards and two scores. He was intercepted once. Jermaine Kearse caught nine passes for 94 yards, and Terrelle Pryor had a receiving touchdown for the second straight week.
Myers connected on field goals of 30, 48, 32, 37, 45, 37 and 45 yards.
Colts quarterback Andrew Luck threw for 301 yards and four touchdowns, but he was picked off three times. Morris Claiborne, Avery Williamson and Darron Lee had the interceptions.
After the Colts (1-5) got within eight points with 1:51 left on Luck's 17-yard touchdown pass to Chester Rogers, the Jets put the game away when Neal Sterling recovered the onside kick.
The Jets led by 17 points early in the third quarter, but it was a one-score game after Luck threw his third-touchdown pass eight seconds into the fourth quarter. A 2-yard pass to tight end Erik Swoope and the extra point brought the Colts within 33-27.
On the Jets' next drive, they made it a two-score game again, and they were fortunate to do that. Darnold should have been intercepted on third down, but Colts defensive end Jabaal Sheard couldn't corral the ball before falling to the ground.
Myers drilled a 45-yard field goal to make it 36-27 with 9:40 to go.
The Jets' defense made sure the Colts wouldn't get closer. Linebacker Darron Lee picked off Luck as the Colts were nearing Jets territory. They converted it into _ what else _ a Myers field goal.
The Jets scored just 12 seconds into the game, after Claiborne snared a twice-deflected pass and went in for the 17-yard touchdown. It was the first time the Jets put up points in the first quarter since Week 1.
But they gave the lead back quickly. On Indianapolis' next drive, Luck marched the Colts 75 yards on five plays, capped by a 34-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Johnson.
The Jets also had turnovers in the first half, leading to two Colts field goals.
Darnold threw a bad pass intended for Robby Anderson that was picked off by Malik Hooker and returned to the Jets' 35. They were fortunate the Colts only got an Adam Vinatieri 21-yard FG. The Colts had first-and-goal from the 1 but couldn't get in. Nyheim Hines dropped a pass in the end zone on third down.
After the Jets got the ball back, Darnold found Quincy Enunwa on first down. But Enunwa fumbled the ball on a hit by rookie linebacker Darius Leonard. Enunwa injured his ankle on the play and did not return. A Vinatieri 31-yard field goal put the Colts up 13-10.
The Jets offense sputtered on the next drive, but the defense came up big.
Jamal Adams forced a fumble with a big hit on Robert Turbin and Jordan Jenkins recovered it in Indianapolis territory. Darnold turned it into a 7-yard touchdown pass to Terrelle Pryor with 2:35 left in the half.
The Jets added two more field goals before the second quarter ended and led 23-13 at the half. The defense came up with another pick _ Avery Williamson intercepted a pass that bounced out of Ryan Grant's hands _ and forced another three-and-out.
Darnold got the ball back with 42 seconds left on his own 28. He completed four passes for 58 yards, setting up Myers' 32-yard field goal as time expired.
The Jets extended their lead to 30-13 after scoring on their first drive of the second half. Darnold connected with rookie tight end Chris Herndon for a 32-yard touchdown.
