The Jets already agreed to terms with a former Seahawks offensive tackle, so Seattle returned the favor.
The Seahawks struck a two-year, $11 million deal with New York free agent Brandon Shell on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal follows Gang Green’s addition of George Fant, who spent the first three years of his career in Seattle.
Shell, meanwhile, spent the last four seasons with the Jets after being drafted in the fifth round out of South Carolina in 2016. He started all 26 games that he played in from 2017-2018 and made 11 starts in 15 games last season.
A right tackle, Shell will replace Germain Ifedi in Seattle. Ifedi is a free agent.
Shell’s departure brings the Jets one step closer to having zero members of their 2016 draft class still on the roster. Lachlan Edwards and Jordan Jenkins are free agents as well, and neither is expected back at this point. Should they leave in free agency, they would join Shell, Darron Lee, Chrisitan Hackenberg, Juston Burris and Charone Peake as draft classmates turned ex-Jets.
