Eagles’ Joe Douglas is a candidate to replace Mike Maccagnan as Jets GM

The New York Jets are shaking things up in the front office and it’ll likely have an impact on things in Philadelphia. The Jets announced on Wednesday that they’ve fired general manager Mike Maccagnan and installed first-year coach Adam Gase as acting general manager.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Eagles vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas could be a leading contender to land the job.

Douglas is close to Gase and has been discussed in NFL circles as a candidate for jobs around the league. The Eagles previously blocked the Texans from interviewing him for their general manager opening in 2017.

Douglas began his NFL scouting career in Baltimore, where he won two Super Bowl rings working under legendary GM Ozzie Newsome. He moved on to the Bears for a season before joining the Eagles immediately after the 2016 draft, and he’s been credited with helping build the roster that won a Super Bowl in 2017 and should contend over the next decade or so.
