Jets defensive lineman Henry Anderson suffers sprained AC joint in loss to Eagles: sources

NEW YORK _ The hits just keep on coming for the Jets.

The Daily News has learned that defensive lineman Henry Anderson suffered a sprained AC joint on the first drive in a 31-6 loss to the Eagles Sunday.

It will be a pain tolerance issue for Anderson, who is a key piece to the defensive front.

The Jets are hopeful that it won't be a long-term injury, but any absence will hurt.

"It's a week-to-week deal," Adam Gase said on a conference call Monday. "We're going to have to see how he feels. Just seeing him walking around today, he's obviously in pain. It's going to be about how does he feel as we go through the week. If he doesn't feel as though he can go out there and perform at the level that he needs to perform at, then he'll miss a game."

Rookie Quinnen Williams' return from an ankle injury was supposed to beef up the line. Now, Gang Green has to contend with this issue.

Anderson, who had seven sacks last year, signed a three-year, $25.2 million in the offseason.
